Hello! It's Been Awhile

It's been a minute since I posted here. Part of that is because I was lazy and didn't follow my own goal of posting once a month, but part of that is because a lot of stuff happened in the last few months so I had good reasons to not get around to it.

Here's a quick run-down of what's been going on in the last few months.

November #

Since my Sri Lankan passport was expiring in July, I applied to renew my existing passport back in May. The whole process was supposed to take only 8 weeks or so, but ended up taking almost 8 months! After much running around, and using the good old "It's not what you know, it's who you know" method, I got that issue sorted. But it was very dumb, very frustrating, and an expensive process. That's going to be a whole blog post in itself. I even had to go to Canberra again to submit more documentation. Since I was still on a provisional license and I had only been driving for some months, we made a quick road trip out of it! Also, other pics from stuff we did around then.

December #

My better half completed her thesis and submitted it in December. She'd been working furiously the last few months of 2023 and finally managed to finish everything*. With that wrapped up, we took our chance and spent some quality time together in the last month of the year. We did a couple of road trips, saw Harry Potter in concert, saw interesting reptiles, stayed in a camper van by the lake, had a good Christmas, and ate A LOT of food!

* 'everything' meaning everything up to the point of submission of her thesis. She's now waiting for the corrections to be sent back to her from the reviewers.

January & February #

India and Sri Lanka! It had been a while since I visited, so I was very excited to be back home. My family in India hadn't met my wife (we got married during COVD), so this was her first time meeting my sister and all my family in India.

I worked remotely for a month in Sri Lanka and took some time off while in India, all this was made easier by the fact that the company I was working for was very flexible in helping me make my travel arrangements (In case you want to join a Great Place to Work™, we're hiring!)

March #

Birthday month! Specifically, my 40th birthday was in March. I also had a lot of administrative work to do in order to get some visa stuff sorted. In a time shorter than the blink of my eye, the month was gone. I did get some good treks in, so here are some photos of that.

And now we're in April, where more stuff is happening, But I'll get into all that later.
